The Pigeon Cote

One lucky bird.

A warm welcome to the Pigeon Cote.  The Pigeon Cote had been used as storage shed and coal bunker, to reach upstairs was with the help of a ladder and the traditional pigeon nesting boxed covered the walls. By carefully removing these we had enough bricks to build the bedroom and wet room extension! The nesting boxes you see upstairs now are exactly the same as they were originally. On the main house there is a dated stone of 1583, this property is the oldest in the area.

A warm welcome to the Pigeon Cote. We moved into this beautiful house in 2008 and spent 7 years modernising and renovating the whole property. By carefully removing these we had enough bricks to build the bedroom and wet room extension! The nesting boxes you see upstairs now are exactly the same as they were originally. Thank you Juli for all your help during our stay here in your cosy cottage. Eggs, bread, cake, a delight as are your animals. York was wonderful, so was castle howard and the pub ‘The St Vincent Arms’ served wonderful food with good service. A lovely all round introduction to Yorkshire.
